Classic Cars and Hot Rod Motor Shows of Note
If you love the cars of yesteryear, there are a couple of notable UK motor fairs that you might want to attend. Each of these options brings something slightly different to the table, but provide enjoyment for fans of classic cars and hot rods.
Blast from the Past
Blast from the Past is a single-day motor fair held in Inverurie’s Thainstone Centre. It costs £5 to get in, but children under 12 are free. It’s held at the end of July (the 22nd), and runs from 10 AM to 4 PM. 2017 will mark the first year of this show’s existence, but organisers have stated that due to the overwhelming response, it will become an annual event. So, even if you’re unable to attend this year’s fair, you can make it to the one next year.
According to organisers, Blast from the Past is “a classic car show with a display of classic, rare and unique vehicles”. It’s open to the public, and if you have a few pounds (10 per car or motorcycle), you can enter your own classic vehicle into the car show. Note that the show itself is held on tarmac, despite the photos on the website showing grass. There is also a speed test competition held with a raised viewing area.
There will be fun to be had by the entire family here, as well. Inflatables (bounce houses) will be available, as well games and other forms of entertainment, and there will be food and drink vendors, as well.
Cars and Coffee
Another single day event, Cars and Coffee takes place in March every year. This year’s event was held from 10 AM to 4 PM at Millennium Place, in Coventry, Warwickshire. Note that Cars and Coffee hosts multiple events throughout the year, as well.
According to the event organisers, Cars and Coffee “launches the season in style with a fabulous display of street vans, hot rods and custom cars on Millennium Place to complement the Hot Rods and Kool Kustoms.” There are options on hand for all ages, but it is primarily aimed at hot rod and classic car fans. This year’s first event had a professional pin stripe artist demonstrating the art of pin striping, as well as a 1950s dance competition, face painting, and food and drink for attendees to enjoy.
Cheshire Steam Fair
The Cheshire Steam Fair takes place on the 8th of July, and is a full-blown street fair, complete with motorcycle stunts, the wall of death and a great deal more. For automotive fans, the highlight will likely be the classic car displays, but there’s more to enjoy here, as well, including steam engines, classic commercial vehicles, stationary engines and more. Of course, food and drink are available. Note that entry to the Cheshire Steam Fair costs £10.
